Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Taliad Inc. is committed to protecting your privacy and respecting your choices about your personal information.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
This policy explains how Taliad Inc. (“Taliad”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through this website and our payment solutions, including Mia Pay@Table. We comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to visitors from the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We deal with personal information from three main groups:
- Website visitors who browse our site or contact us.
- Merchants (for example, restaurants) who use our products, and their staff.
- Diners and other customers who pay a merchant using our solutions. For this information, the merchant is usually responsible for it and Taliad handles it on the merchant’s behalf to process payments and provide receipts.
2. Information we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
- Receipts: your email address if you ask for an emailed receipt, or your mobile phone number if you ask for a text (SMS) receipt.
- Transaction information: details of a purchase such as amount, date, merchant and a masked card reference. Payment card information is processed through PCI DSS-compliant payment processors; Taliad does not store full payment card numbers.
- Merchant information: business contact details and account information needed to provide and support our services.
- Technical information: basic information your browser sends, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to operate and secure the website.
We will tell you when we are asking for personal information, and you can choose not to provide it. If you do not provide it, some features (such as an emailed receipt) may not be available.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and requests sent through our contact form or by email.
- To process payments and send you the receipt you asked for.
- To provide, support and improve our services for merchants, including reporting and notifications.
- To prevent fraud, keep our systems secure, and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To produce aggregated statistics that do not identify you.
We do not currently send promotional or marketing emails or text messages. If we begin to, we will only do so with your express consent, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and every message will include an easy way to unsubscribe.
4. Consent
By providing personal information for one of the purposes above, you consent to its use for that purpose. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot provide a particular service.
5. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- With the merchant you are paying, for transactions made through our solutions.
- With service providers who help us run our business, such as payment processors, website and cloud hosting providers, and email and SMS delivery services. They may use the information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
- When required by law, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process, protect the rights or property of Taliad, or protect the safety of any person.
- In connection with a merger, sale or reorganization of our business, subject to this policy.
6. Where your information is stored
Your information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. When it is outside Canada, it may be accessible to authorities in that country under local law. We use contracts and other safeguards to protect information transferred outside Canada or the EU/EEA.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law (for example, tax and financial record rules). Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to respond and follow up with you. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete it or make it anonymous.
8. How we protect information
We use industry-standard physical, technical and administrative safeguards, including encryption in transit and restricted access, to protect personal information from loss, theft and unauthorized access, use or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the appropriate authorities of any breach as required by law.
9. Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies and similar technologies needed for it to work properly and securely. We do not use advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy.
10. Your rights
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, and ask questions about how we handle it. We will respond within the time required by law. If your request relates to a transaction with a merchant, we may refer you to that merchant or work with them to respond.
If you are in the EU or EEA, you also have the right to request erasure, restriction, portability of your data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases for processing are: performing a contract or a service you asked for (for example, a receipt), our legitimate interests in operating and securing our business, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our website.
12. Links to other websites
Our website may link to websites run by others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If we plan to use your information in a way that is significantly different from what we told you when we collected it, we will ask for your consent first.
